Summer of stars

Chapter 1: Love at First Sight

It was a warm summer night when Emily met Michael for the first time. She was sitting on a bench in the park, watching the stars, when he walked up to her.

“Is this seat taken?” he asked, motioning to the bench.

Emily looked up and saw the most beautiful man she had ever seen. He had dark hair and piercing blue eyes that seemed to look right through her.

“No, it’s not,” she replied, trying not to seem too nervous.

Michael sat down beside her, and they started talking. They talked about everything – their dreams, their passions, and their favorite books. They were so engrossed in their conversation that they didn’t even notice the sun coming up.

As they stood up to leave, Michael took Emily’s hand. They looked at each other, and in that moment, they both knew that they had found something special.

Over the next few weeks, they spent all their time together, exploring the city, trying new foods, and falling in love. It was as if they were meant to be together.

But as the summer drew to a close, Michael had to leave. He had been offered a job in another state, and he had to take it. Emily was devastated. She didn’t want him to go, but she knew that his career was important to him.

The night before he left, they went back to the park where they had met. They sat on the same bench where they had shared their first conversation.

“I don’t want to go,” Michael said, tears in his eyes.

“I know,” Emily replied, wiping away her own tears.

They sat in silence, the only sounds coming from the crickets and the occasional rustle of leaves.

Suddenly, Michael stood up. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small box.

“I can’t leave without asking you this,” he said, getting down on one knee.

Emily gasped as he opened the box to reveal a beautiful diamond ring.

“Will you marry me?”

Emily was so overwhelmed with emotion that she couldn’t even speak. She nodded her head, tears streaming down her face.

Michael slipped the ring onto her finger, and they held each other, knowing that they had a love that would never die.

But even though they were engaged, Emily knew that Michael had to leave. They spent one last night together, holding each other tightly, knowing that it would be a long time before they saw each other again.

As Emily watched Michael walk away, she knew that she had found true love. But the pain of knowing that they would be apart for so long was almost too much to bear. She held onto the ring that Michael had given her and prayed that they would be together again someday.
