Corporate communications

Corporate communications is a management functions or department, like marketing, finance, or operations, dedicated to the dissemination of information to key constituencies, the execution of corporate strategy and the development of messages for a variety of our for inside and outside the organisation.

In today's global corporations, this function serves as the conscience of the corporation and is responsible for the organisation's reputation. Previously called public relations or public affairs corporate communications has taken on new importance in the 21 century as a result of corporate scandals or crises at companies like Enron and Toyota.

Corporate communications refers to the communication within corporate organisation (internal communications ) as well as the communication between different corporate entities (external communications).

Internal corporate communications means the communication within a particular company.Corporate communication is used to make announcement, take decision and in general share information. Corporate communications is a great way to create a conductive work atmosphere.

External corporate communications process includes communication of the corporate organisation with its current/ potential investors, customers and other corporate entities. This, external corporate communications is instrumental in creating the brand image or brand identity.
