Most polluting energy sources are finite, exhaustible. Oil and gas reserves will run out someday, which could have a global impact that would cause a collapse. Renewable energy, by contrast, does not exploit natural resources in this way. It takes advantage of inexhaustible sources, which can be tapped without impact.
According to the World Economic Forum, in some countries, the renewable energy industry has reached the so-called tipping point. This means that it costs the same – or even less – than polluting sources.
The constant improvement of the renewable energy sector has made it increasingly competitive. According to the International Labor Organization (ILO), the renewable energy industry already generates more jobs than traditional and polluting fuels.
CREATION OF NEW TECHNOLOGIES
As much as the renewable energy industry is improving more and more, many of the technologies involved are new. Consequently, there is an incentive for innovation, research, and creation of new technologies.
Cost reduction, job creation and technological innovation are especially important: they are essential factors for a nation to be more competitive.
LESS ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
The environmental impact is less than that caused by energy sources from fossil fuels (coal, oil and gas), since they do not produce carbon dioxide or other gases responsible for the “greenhouse effect”.
Undoubtedly, the use of renewable energy is essential for the future of humanity. The continued use of fossil fuels will only exacerbate the impacts of climate change and its costs. This type of energy is clearly the solution to many global problems and Brazil is expected to invest more and more in this sector. Future generations are grateful.
